22 Mar Music Festival and Concert Winter Term 2021
The Spring Music Festival, which took place at the end of term in the Rosey Concert Hall, instead of the usual Gstaad venue, was a great success. There were 50 musical performances from students from class 5 and above. Though there were far fewer ensembles and groups than usual as a result of the pandemic hygiene and safety restrictions in place, the solo performances and occasional duet or trio were all of an excellent standard. Students were, as tradition on formal occasions at Rosey, all smartly dressed in uniform. Each musician is promised a professional film of their performance during the holiday.
The concert during the following week was a joyful occasion, with all students, except some Class t’s taking exams, present in the audience. Although staff were not able to attend because of the health measures in place, the concert was live-streamed to the community. The student response was indisputable – everyone was so happy to be reunited in the concert hall, this event marking the first time since the Fête de Noël 2019 that our musicians had been able to perform in front of a live audience.
The Juniors, still enjoying the snow in Gstaad, will perform in their own concert towards the start of next term when they return to Rolle.
This was a particularly memorable and beautiful moment to conclude the winter term for Roseans. We look forward to continued live performances, hoping for the return of full school concerts and our official concert season under normal conditions.
