26 Apr Roséens perform with the Menuhin Academy in honour of Lord Menuhin
On Friday 22 April in Saanen church, the people of the Saanenland were offered an unforgettable concert to celebrate the centenary of Yehudi Menuhin’s birth, given by the International Menuhin Music Academy — in residence at Le Rosey since September — with its artistic director the great violinist and wonderful friend, Maxim Vengerov. Three short extracts, although filmed only on an iPhone, give a flavour of the occasion: Bach’s Chaconne fro the 2nd Partita (precision, clarity, inspiration, emotional intensity: who better today than Maxim to play this monument of the violin repertoire?); Mozart’s 5th Violin Concerto (a magical performance of finesse and partnership between Maxim and the IMMA Konzertmeister, the impressive, Oleg Kaskiv), and then to finish, a delightful “lollipop”, Shostakovich’s Waltz No. 2, with Roséens invited by Maxim and IMMA to join the orchestra…
