26 May The swim team in Lausanne
I joined the swim team at the beginning of the year after winning the Junior gala. I was inspired by my two older brothers who have been swimming champions at the school for over four years. In the third term, we organised a team for the ADISR competition and trained hard for eight weeks. We worked on our dives, which was really challenging as the coach just told me to “do better” and “get on with it”. On the dreaded day of the ADISR in Lausanne, Timi, Veronika and I were all nervous.
The first race was horrible!
I dived in and my goggles fell off and I came last. I was devastated, mortified and shocked, and I only started to calm down when my heroic brother Theo told me that he had had the same problem in the past, but worse. I was so grateful to have my coach, my friends and especially my brother support me. In the end, we came 4th out of 10 schools. The seniors boys and moyen girls came home with two trophies and together we won 24 medals in total. All in all, a great year of swimming and I was so glad to be part of the highs and the lows!
