29 May Charity Fun Run in aid of SHOFCO
Inspired by worldwide running initiatives during the pandemic, we challenged those on campus to do a charity run for SHOFCO, an organisation committed to protecting vulnerable communities in Kenyan slums and facilitating the response to stop the spread of Coronavirus.
Teachers and children living on campus – including our Junior boarders – took up the challenge to run around the athletics track (from 7 to 70 laps), with staggered starts through the day. 12 teachers all ran 5km or 10km, with three participants continuing on to complete a half-marathon (21.1km). Furthermore, we had a few students who participated remotely in Lucerne and the Chyulu Hills, Kenya. Well done to all involved and thank you to those who sponsored us and cheered us on from a distance!
All the participants agreed that it was a lovely way for our community to connect and contribute to the fight against COVID-19, raising almost CHF 2,000 for the chosen charity.
