07 Jun French Poetry Competition 2021
The 34th edition of the French Poetry Competition saw Roseans from all classes summon their inner poets and write individual poems, for many not in their mother tongue, to submit to an adjudication panel made up of students from the class 1 French Baccalaureate and faculty staff. Verse rich in imagery, emotion and musicality offered an enjoyable selection of reading for the judges, who emphasised the quality and commitment of the students’ work and awarded prizes to Roseans in each class for the categories of French mother tongue and FLE.
The anonymous poems were then taken to the French theatre students, who interpreted the texts in the form of recitations and performances. So impatient to perform to an audience, an evening in the Black Box was recorded and shared to the classes to appreciate Roseans’ creativity and the beautifully-staged art inspired by the poetry of their peers. We look forward to the 35th edition of this event and the reprise of its original format to celebrate the writing and recitation of French verse amongst the school community.
