25 Apr Prix Paderewski Recital at Rosey Concert Hall
As part of the goal to encourage young musicians at the beginning of their careers, the Rosey Concert Hall welcomed San Jittakarn, winner of this year’s Prix Paderewski, for a piano recital in April. Jittakarn studied in the States at Oberlin, Julliard and Yale and brought a flavour of America to his recital with a wonderfully virtuosic selection of Gershwin songs which he performed just before the final piece – a dazzling performance of Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Sonata. The programme also included Shostakovich, Beethoven, Chopin and, of course, a piece by Paderewski. Jittarkan produced some beautiful colours in his expressive and technically demanding recital and the concert concluded with an encore by Scarlatti.
